Tomorrow is an exciting day for Unifor autoworkers. We will open Auto Talks 2023 in Toronto and a historic round of negotiations with the Detroit Three.
In a few weeks we will also mark our union’s tenth anniversary. This is an important milestone in the history of Unifor and it’s an important time to reflect on all that we’ve accomplished together.
Canadian autoworkers have a history we can all be proud of. For generations, they’ve fought for and won our bedrock labour rights and helped pave the way to a better future for all workers in Canada. We’re going to continue that tradition in Auto Talks 2023 by being bold and by bargaining on our own terms.
Since the last round of talks, Unifor has worked tirelessly to make the billions of dollars in investments committed to our auto plants a reality. We took things one step further by expanding these historic gains even further. Now, for the first time in decades, the auto footprint is growing. Auto Talks 2023 is about building on those past gains and keeping the momentum autoworkers have built going strong.
Tune in to Unifor’s Auto Talks opening news conference live on August 10 at 3:00 p.m. on autotalks.ca.
