Unifor members at Stellantis,
We write to provide a brief update on two bargaining issues:
- BAP income security extension and,
- Strike deadline clarifications
Income security extension for Brampton members – Following discussions between Stellantis and Unifor, the parties have agreed to extend the current income security provisions covering laid off L1285 members at Brampton Assembly Plant (Stellantis – Unifor Letter of Agreement dated December 12, 2025). The provisions are extended until:
- The parties reach a legal strike / lockout position, or
- A renewal collective agreement is in effect, whichever comes first.
Strike deadline clarifications – Unifor will not be in a legal strike position as of September 20, 2026 (date the collective agreement expires). Unifor and Stellantis remain in conciliation. Conciliation is a process mandated under the Ontario Labour Relations Act which must be completed before Unifor or Stellantis can be in a legal strike / lockout position. Unifor continues to assess all options related to the ongoing negotiations, including the timing for setting a legal strike deadline, if that becomes necessary.
It remains Unifor’s objective to reach a tentative settlement with Stellantis, without the need for taking strike action. However, bargaining remains extremely challenging, and as previously reported, is at impasse. Therefore, strike action remains a real possibility. The next step for members in this process is participation in strike votes. If Unifor moves to that stage, your local union will notify you of the date, time and location for strike vote meetings.
As always, we thank you for your continued support through this bargaining.
In solidarity,
James Stewart, Chairperson, Unifor Stellantis Master Bargaining Committee
Vito Beato, Vice-Chairperson, Unifor Stellantis Master Bargaining Committee
