Stellantis members overwhelmingly support strike mandate
Hello Members,
A strong strike mandate of 97.3% has been delivered by members across Stellantis locals, authorizing job action if needed.
The vote result supports our bargaining committee during these very difficult negotiations as we continue to work to achieve a fair collective agreement with the company.
We thank the members for their strong vote to stand united behind our bargaining committee.
It is important to understand that while we now have a mandate, that does not automatically mean a strike will occur.
Strike action is always a last resort, but in bargaining it is essential to protect our ability to exercise our fundamental right to withdraw our labour if necessary to reach a fair agreement.
The union is NOT currently in a legal strike position as neither Stellantis nor Unifor has requested a “No Board” report, one of the steps necessary under labour law required for job action.
Unifor will continue to provide updates on the status of negotiations at autotalks.ca.
In solidarity,
Lana Payne, Unifor National President
James Stewart, Unifor Stellantis Master Bargaining Committee Chairperson
Vito Beato, Unifor Stellantis Master Bargaining Committee Vice-Chairperson
